News - Changes to the US Travel Authorisation Programme
| The news article you requested is shown below. For further information regarding this news article please contact us. |
From the 12th January 2009 Visa Waiver Programme (VWP) travellers (UK Nationals) are required to obtain travel authorization from ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) before travelling to the United States. The application is a free automated system that is used by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to determine the eligibility of travellers to the United States travelling under the VWP. Applications can be made online via the following link: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/
ESTA authorisations are generally valid for up to two years and are valid for multiple visits to the US. It is recommended that US bound travellers apply for ESTA authorisation at least 72 hours before departure, however the DHS advise people to apply as soon as travel plans are made. ESTA authorisation does not guaranteed entry, but is a prerequisite to travel to the United States.
If you have any queries regarding the ESTA system please contact us at the BABC Midlands on 0121 454 6171 or via e-mail at babcmidlands@babc.org.uk.
