West Midlands businesses are being invited to take advantage of an exciting opportunity to discover how to get their share of the estimated US$120 billion purchasing power of international aid and donor agencies.
Nine UK Trade & Investment liaison officers from the British Embassies or Consulates in New York, Washington DC, Geneva, Copenhagen, Nairobi, Vienna, Manila, Barbados and Brussels are visiting the region to help companies win contracts with these organisations.
They will be taking part in a one-day workshop on Friday 17 September at Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 8.45am to 3.30pm.
Claire Gamage, UK Trade & Investment's project manager for the Aid Funded Business Service, said: 'The private sector plays a vital role in supplying the goods and services needed by organisations such as the United Nations, the World Bank, the Regional Development Banks and the European Union to help the developing world.
'There are opportunities in all these organisations for all sizes of companies from SMEs to large multinationals across a wide range of industry sectors, but it can be difficult to make contact with the right people in the agencies and this is where we can help.
'UK Trade & Investment's liaison officers offer a wealth of knowledge on each of their respective agencies and can also facilitate an introduction to the key decision makers.
'This event will enable delegates to gain an overview of how the agencies work and have one-to-one meetings with the liaison officers.
'It will provide an excellent introduction to companies who are looking at this market for the first time, and will also be useful for those who are already working with the agencies but are unaware of how UK Trade & Investment can help them.'
